あと84日 撤退の判断は潔く

84 days left—make the decision to withdraw with resolve.

Hey there!

This is Oda, and since I haven't bought a case for my MacBook yet, I'm carrying it around in the box it came in!!!

#It looks completely pathetic.

#Why haven't you bought one yet? lol

Today, I'm going to talk about the theme "Decide to Retreat Decisively"!

“Hmm? Something feels off.”

This is

what I felt after comparing the plans of dozens of companies to make a nice calendar,

finally narrowing it down to one company,

learning Illustrator (Adobe Illustrator)

to match their template software,

and somehow creating a layout that looked like this.

#I spent quite a lot of time on it.

The result was,

I had been making a calendar with the A4 size laid horizontally and stacked vertically (photo on top, calendar on the bottom), but I canceled it all and

changed my strategy to make a calendar with the modified A4 size oriented vertically and stacked vertically!

The reason was that it looked terrible.

Humans are vertically oriented.

However, when you try to fit them into a horizontal frame, it becomes a close-up, so you can't see the chest or abdominal muscles, and conversely, when you try to show the chest or abdominal muscles, the model becomes small and leaves empty space on the sides.

That meant I realized that this layout itself wasn't suited for the calendar I wanted to make, and the layout of the calendar I wanted to make was vertically oriented.

However!

I couldn't find a single company anywhere that offered vertically oriented calendars.

#Why not?

#Someone should make one.

“Hmm, what should I do?”

Oda thinks.

“Yeah, I'll ask.”

So I asked the companies that had tentatively decided on the3 items below.

① Whether they can make a vertical version of A4.

② Whether they can make a vertical calendar with the modified A4 size (changing the long side from297mm to252mm).

③ Whether they can make a custom size of300mm×250mm.

The results were that ① and ② were possible, but ③ was not.

Since my priorities were ③→②→① in that order, I'm going to proceed with ②.

Now I'll talk about why I modified it like ②!

As a result of thinking “Something feels off,” I realized that what I should refer to after all was an Australian calendar.

The calendar I ordered from Australia was size ③.

If you convert this to a ratio,it's a ratio of1.2:1.

That means this ratio is the easiest for customers to see and the most popular ratio.

#Apparently, it sells 300,000 copies a year.

However, with my current power, I don't have the power or connections to make this size, so I decided to go with a slightly smaller A4 modification while keeping the ratio the same.

#SomedayI'll make a custom size of30×25!

Also, if I use the A4 size as it is, it's so vertically oriented that the overall look ends up looking like a long-legged middle-aged man.

So, I calculated the short side of A4 as210mm×1.2=252mm, and made it this size.

When I cut paper at home to this size and line them up, it's a little compact, but the overall look is stylish.

Rather, I came to think that a slightly compact size might be easier to adapt to Japan than bringing the flashy Australian feel (large-size calendar) as it is.

#A Japan with modesty

#Oda interpreting it in a good way

Also, for the same reason, I'm going to change the B6 horizontal desktop calendar to A5 vertical!

Therefore,

the wall calendar (saddle-stitched type)

will be A4 modification (252mm×210mm)

and the desktop calendar

will be A5 vertical!

Thank you very much!!!

#To whom?

#Next is the 365-day flip calendar

#and Oda, who has been rejected by all the companies he inquired with

#I asked the company selling on Amazon to make it, but it didn't work

#But I didn't give up and asked them to tell me a manufacturer

#But there's no reply

#However, I'll make it somehow!!

To summarize today's story

You should be careful of the Concorde effect.

The Concorde effect isthe psychology of not being able to stop investing money, feelings, and time in a certain target even though you know that continuing to do so will be a huge loss.

That means it gets in the way in all situations such as gambling, investing, romance, lines, work, and hobbies, and prevents you from making rational decisions.

In short, it's a state of being desperate and ignoring reality or facts.

This will absolutely not work.

Taking Oda as an example this time,

① I finally learned how to use Illustrator and spent a lot of time, and finally finished the layout!

② Hmm? But something feels off. (But I've made it this far, so let's go with this.)

③ The reviews are really bad and sales aren't growing

is something like that!

#Negative spiral

You all want to deliver something you are satisfied with to your customers, right?

I feel the same way.

I will make something I am satisfied with and release it to the world.

At this point, I thought it was really good that I started preparing early.

If I had to release it in1 month from now, or if I had finished shooting assuming it was horizontal, it would have been truly irreversible.

First, it's important to create a state where you can make a calm decision (a state where you have enough time to prepare properly), and proceed slowly.

Oda learned one more thing this time.

Thank you, God.

#Why suddenly God
