61 Days Left: Rescue Symposium (Part 2)

Hey there!

This is Oda, and I can't wait to see my family.

If I were to express the feeling of returning to Saga from Tokyo in firefighting terms,

it's like diving 20m deep in a dry suit, coming back to the surface, and the moment you open the zipper, you're released from the compression and feel a sense of relief, like, "Phew, it's over safely."

This is the final chapter of the Rescue Symposium!

Finally, it's about my encounters with the firefighters who helped with the Firefighter Muscle Calendar!

As I wrote in the previous article,

about 1,000 firefighters from all over the country gathered in Tokyo.

And since it was a rescue symposium, most of them were rescue personnel, and there were a lot of really muscular people.

In the midst of all that, I was keeping a close eye on everyone.

#HonestToGod

Because opportunities like this are rare.

Just so there's no misunderstanding,

I wanted to go to the rescue symposium!

When I expressed that, I hadn't even thought about starting a business yet; I simply wanted to go because I had always wanted to, so that's the order of things.

Please don't misunderstand, but I didn't ask because I was looking for models(^^)

#I'mActuallyDoingMoreInputAndOutputThanAnyoneBecauseIWriteArticlesAboutTheLectures

Back to the story!

I bravely approached five people at the venue.

I brought about 150 business cards,

and had prepared them with my phone number and LINE ID handwritten on the back, but in the end, I was only able to give them to five people.

The reason is, it wasn't really that kind of atmosphere.

That's how it was.

The rescue symposium was like a movie theater,

where everyone sat in a long row facing the same direction and listened to the speakers.

And since there were 1,000 participants, it was basically chaotic.

Of course, you had to scan the assigned QR code to get into the venue, so I can confirm that there were no ordinary people mixed in with the attendees.

However, there were so many people that it wasn't like we could all say "Hey!" to each other, and there were no group discussions, so it wasn't really an environment where you could meet new people.

But!!!!

I'm not the kind of guy who would give up on that!

When I found someone at the venue I wanted to ask to be a model, I watched them from the shadows like a cheetah, and the moment they were alone, I went in for the kill. Lol

#So five people is a passing grade in my book

So, I have two regrets!

First, I should have exchanged LINE IDs on the spot

I approached five people,

and two of them exchanged LINE IDs with me on the spot,

and one person searched for my LINE ID from my business card and contacted me.

I haven't heard from the other two yet.

#WaitingForTheirContactCrying

The thing is, even though I was the one who said I wanted to connect, I made them go through the trouble of searching for my LINE ID later, which was my mistake.

Also, they could have simply forgotten, so that wasn't good.

The solution would have been

to ask for their LINE ID on the spot

and write down their fire department name right then and there. Crying

Second, I should have practiced introducing myself, stating my purpose and request clearly from the start, so I could convey everything concisely even in a short amount of time.

The breaks were 10 minutes long.

There were about three of those 10-minute breaks.

During those short breaks, I had to go to the bathroom or find a gap between other people talking to go and talk to them,

so if I dawdled, I was just a suspicious person. Lol

Of course, I had an idea of how to approach them, but I realized I needed to prepare to convey everything more specifically, clearly, and quickly.

It hasn't been decided yet, so of course I can't write that anyone has agreed to help, but the two people I exchanged contact information with on the spot were really handsome, and amazingly, both of them had been Japan champions in physique competitions.

#WhatAMiracle

And they were very positive about it,

saying, "I'll get my body ready!"

I almost fell in love with them.

I'm also going to challenge myself in physique competitions in the future, so it was very inspiring.

The other person, earlier in LINE, said they would pass on being a model themselves, but they introduced me to a suitable junior who could do it. I'm really grateful.

We'll be communicating more in the future, but I just love this feeling of gradually getting to know people from all over the country!

I'll sum it up!

Once again, I took small steps forward.

"What if they think I'm a suspicious person?"

"What if they turn me down?"

"What if they complain?"

To be honest, I had all those kinds of feelings the whole time.

However, I realized that I might be the only one out of 1,000 people who had such self-defeating feelings based on nothing but uncertainty.

That's exactly why, in my heart,

I told myself, "Go for it, Oda!!! Stand up, Joe!"

and fired myself up,

taking one step, no, half a step forward.

By repeating that half step, I was able to talk to them.

I think I grew again.

And I want to do my best to make this encounter into a wonderful memory one day.

I will absolutely make the most of everyone's help, and I will absolutely protect the models!

It was a day when my determination became as solid as a diamond.

Thank you for your continued support of the japan firefighter calendar!!!!!
