Hey!
Simply put, I don't have any long pants for casual wear, so I'm in trouble! This is Oda!
#Buysome
#I want to keep wearing shorts forever
#Actually, I want to keep dressing lightly forever
#Actually, I don't want to wear clothes
#Because it's hot
Recently, I've been talking to a lot of people, and there have been a lot of mindset-related posts about writing down what I think!
#Thank you for listening to me
But this time, it's a complete 180, and it's a post about making things!
Its name is, "Let's make a logo!!"
The thing is, I'm in the middle of thinking about the calendar design, but the image hasn't solidified yet, so I thought it would be better to make the logo first so that I can use Illustrator (Adobe Illustrator) as efficiently as possible!
#Logos are all about self-satisfaction
#I don't choose a company logo when buying products
Even so, I don't know how to use Illustrator or make logos at all, so I immediatelyYouTubed and imitated the steps professional designers use to create logos, and I made it almost exactly like that!
#Because it's cool and simple, and if possible, I wanted to make it from scratch
I could have used a free, copyright-free template, but I rejected it for the following2 reasons!
1 I won't get better at using Illustrator
2 I probably won't feel attached to a template logo
So, since you all were probably thinking about making a logo using Illustrator, I'll share how I made this logo, so let's do it together!!
So, let's go!!
#Who's going to see it
#It's a long article that really isn't worth reading, so if you're busy, you don't have to force yourself to read it
1 Add text
1-1Select the 'Text Tool' from the icon with the text 'T'.
※If the Text Tool doesn't appear, try long-pressing it!
1-2 Click once on the screen so the cursor blinks, then enter the text you want (in my case, firstfire fighter).
1-3 Select the font in the font section on the right. (I tried the one called 'LUMINARI'.)

2 Draw a circle
2-1 Select the 'Ellipse Tool' from the icon with the square.
※If it doesn't appear again, try long-pressing it! Then the Rectangle Tool, Ellipse Tool, Polygon Tool, Star Tool, and Line Tool will appear!
At this point, I learned that if you long-press on the left side, you can do all sorts of things.
2-2 After selecting the Ellipse Tool, hold down the Shift key and drag to create a perfect circle
※If you hold down the Shift key, you can make a perfect circle, and if you don't, you can make a freeform circle! Ho ho! I'm starting to understand!
That means if you hold down the Shift key with the Rectangle Tool, you can probably make a perfect square!
#I haven't tried it, but it's definitely true!

2-3 You got a solid black circle, right?
This means the circle is set to 'No stroke, black fill'.
So, click the double-ended arrow on the left to switch it to 'Black stroke, no fill'. Then, change the stroke weight.

※Ho ho! So you can quickly switch between stroke and fill colors like that!!
That must be really useful for designers who want to try out all sorts of colors!
3 Add text inside the circle that follows the curve of the circle
3-1 ⌘ (Command key) andC to copy.⌘ andF to copy to the front.
※Copying to the front means placing a copy right in front of the copied object
※So it doesn't look like it was copied. But they're overlapping.
※By the way,⌘ and V will place the copy in a different position. You can immediately tell it was copied.
3-2 option key and Shift key while dragging to make the circle smaller
※This allows you to change the size of the copied object without changing its center.
※Ho ho! Earlier, I used only the Shift key to keep the aspect ratio the same! Andoption key keeps it centered!
#It's like a Matryoshka doll

3-3 Long-press the Text Tool from earlier, select 'Type on a Path Tool', and click on the circle. Then, enter the text, and it will follow the curve of the circle.

※You can do it along the outside or the inside of the circle.
#While it's selected, try squeezing it! It will go inside or outside!
Then, align the paragraph to the center, rotate it a lot to bring it to the center of the circle, and increase the letter spacing to make it easier to read.

4 Cut out part of the circle overlapping the text
4-1 Select the circle with the Selection Tool, and long-press the Eraser Tool to bring up the Scissors Tool.
In this state, cut the path of the circle where you need to.
※The path is like the skeleton of the circle, and you can't see it unless you select it. But if you cut the skeleton, you can remove just that part or change its color.
4-2 After cutting the path of the circle, don't delete it, but set the color to none so it becomes invisible. At this point, the circle will look like it's been split into two pieces, top and bottom
※I'll explain why I don't delete it later

5 Add a small, thin circle inside the circle
5-1 At this point, there's so much text and shapes that it's hard to select only the parts you need, so⌘ and2 lock them so you can't select them.
5-2 In this state, drag the whole thing with the Selection Tool to select all the remaining parts you want to select.
※Since the locked ones can't be selected
while all the rest are selected,⌘ andG to group them. ※ GroupG
5-3 After grouping,⌘C to copy⌘F to paste to the front, and thenoption and Shift while dragging to make it smaller. ※ It's the same method as before!
And after changing the size, make the stroke thinner.
6 Give the two circles a vintage feel. A vintage feel means creating an atmosphere where parts look faded.
6-1 First, since I want to make one of the circles look vintage, I'll hide everything except that circle⌘3 to focus on it.
※It's not deleted, it's just hidden, so don't worry!
6-2 Select the Pen Tool and draw a black line
6-3
From the Brush Tool
select the Paintbrush Tool
and click the small window in the top right
where it says 'Basics' on the right
to open the Brush Library
open Art
and select Charcoal Pencil.
#I wonder what I'm even doing
#But it's true
6-4
So select the black line I made at the beginning
and click the Charcoal Pencil I just opened
and click the black line again
and the original line will become a sketchy line like charcoal.
#It really makes no sense
#What is everyone thinking as they read this
#I don't think anyone is reading anymore
#But I'll keep going

6-5 Take it to the circle with a vintage feel, and while holding down the Shift key andOptionkey, copy it below the circle.

※You should have quit already.
#From here on, I'm going to say some really nonsensical things.
6-6
In that state, invert the stroke and fill,
and it instantly got a vintage feel.

However, as it is, the white will stand out if there's a background behind it, so it can't be used for a logo.
So in that case,
select the object from the top menu
and click Divide in Appearance.
Then, what was a stroke until now
was divided into individual objects.
In that state,⌘Gto group it,
and then select the circle and the previous object
by dragging to select all.
Then, click Opacity in the right menu,
and click Make Mask.
It might disappear from the screen at that time, but it's okay,
just uncheck the clip checkbox,
and you can convert it into an object where only the circle gets a vintage feel even if there's a color in the background.
#Hey! Is anyone there?
6-7 Finally,6-1everything that was hiddenwithoptionand⌘3will be displayed again.

7 Make the owl mascot character
7-1 Putting aside why it's an owl for now, I'll make an original owl.
NowAIis developed, so when you enter text,AIcan create original images and videos for you.
Famous ones include,
・chatGPT
・canva
I think it's around that area.
And, what's more, this Illustrator also had the 'Text to Vector' feature added2 weeks ago.
#What timing is this
This is, for example,
of course 'Bonfire'
or something a little more detailed like 'Crying Bear'
or 'A mystical red-based gradient banana'
#What kind of banana
You can create anything you want
7-2 So I
typed 'Simple and cute monochrome owl' and hadAImake a few.
There was nothing I liked, so when I clicked regenerate a few times, something close to my image came out, so I got that one.

And I threw that into the logo.
Then anyone can easily complete an original logo with a vintage feel.
#Don't hate me
So, today I started the logo creation work after the kids went to sleep and5 hours have passed.
The time is2 AM.
However, somehow I was able to make the logo!
Which color should I go with?

I have a lot of affection for it, so I want to run through history together with this logo!
The result is what I want to say, so in this logo creation
・The part to spend time on is creating the overall logo from scratch
Why? → I want to have affection for it myself
#Even so, it's about 5 hours
・The part not to spend time on is the owl creation
Why? → Even if it takes a month, I can't draw it myself
#The work time is 3 minutes
So, it's not that you should spend time on everything, and it's not that you should do everything efficiently.
That judgment is,
・Time and effort
・Skills and knowledge you have
・What you value
I think you should judge comprehensively!
I think this story surprisingly applies to all adults.
#There are surprisingly a lot of tasks where you don't realize it yourself, but spending time on them won't lead to anything
The people who read this ridiculously long post are probably7people, but thank you for reading!
#If you read to the end, please leave a comment on the official LINE
I want to resume making the calendar again next time!!
Bye-nary!!
This was Seishiro Oda!
