88 days left—connecting the dots

Hey there!!

I'm Oda, the guy who takes off his socks and drives with only his right big toe on the pedals!!

#I'm proud to say I move this huge car with just one toe.

Today, I want to talk about how dots connect.

Speaking of connecting dots, there's a story about

Steve Jobs's

"Connecting the Dots."

Apparently, he gave this speech at his Stanford University commencement, and it really hit home for me this time.

・My past all-out efforts were dots.

Recently, I went to visit someone.

That someone is Ittoro Fujita, the owner of manly in Imaizumi, Fukuoka.

He's a full-fledged entrepreneur who also did a working holiday in Kyushu.

I met him about 10 years ago.

At the invitation of a fellow firefighter, I went to help out at a booth at Sunset Live, an outdoor music festival held annually in Itoshima City.

#There's a whole backstory to how I got there, but I'll skip it for now.

So, I've been helping out at the booth with all my might every year.

#Just drinking, singing, and dancing.

Of course, I'm still an active firefighter, so there's no money involved, and I do it all as a volunteer.

And so, my friendship with Ittoro-san has deepened year by year.

Well, when I decided to start my own business, I wanted to learn the basics of management from a senior who had been running a company for a long time, and Ittoro-san was the first person who came to mind.

And if you're sharp enough, you might have realized something by now. Did you figure it out?

Yes, that's right.

The name of the store is

"manly" *Pronounced manly

Yes, it's the name of a beach in Australia.

And many people go to Australia on working holidays every year, and there are many people around Ittoro-san, including Ittoro-san himself, who are very familiar with Australia.

#Especially Takuya

#The ultimate socialite

I think I've written about this in past articles,

but the inspiration for me creating the Firefighter Muscle Calendar was, of course, the Australian Firefighter Muscle Calendar.

#It apparently sells 300,000 copies worldwide every year, and has already donated about 500 million yen to children and animals.

And one of my goals is

a collaboration between Japanese and Australian firefighters.

#A collaboration between handsome Australian musclemen and handsome Japanese musclemen

So when I told Ittoro-san about this, wow, so many amazing stories came out. I heard stories on a scale that exceeded my imagination by 700m, and I couldn't stop grinning halfway through.

#It's a shame I can't tell you yet! by Zabungle

At that moment, what I felt from the bottom of my heart was

that I was really glad I had been putting all my effort into making dots in the same place (my relationship with manly) for 10 years.

That's it.

You're relying on someone else's help! You scumbag! It might sound unpleasant, but for me, a 34-year-old with a wife and three children and a 30-year mortgage still left,

"I quit being a firefighter and tried it, but it didn't work at all!! Tee-hee-pero!"

is absolutely not allowed,

so I have no choice but to fully utilize the connections and relationships I've gained in my life so far and work tirelessly to reduce the chance of failure by even one micron.

#In return, I'll pay back my help 700 million times over

That's why I've been writing this blog for a year, and I'm building a website that hasn't earned a single yen yet by paying a monthly fee (about 10,000 yen in total for the server, domain, and website).

#Losing 120,000 yen before starting a business

#But it's a necessary expense

To sum it up, whether you have a future goal, dream, or vision or not, your past experiences and relationships can unexpectedly bring you good luck later on, so

"Give your all to what's in front of you."

That was the ultimately very simple message.

#I'll make sure to be a strong dot in some way

So this time, it was

Odarv Jobs's

"To connect the dots in the future, give your all to what's in front of you!"

That was the story(^^)

Soiginta! (Bye-bye in Saga dialect!)
