My name is Seishiro Oda.

 

I'm a bit of an oddball who's going to boldly share the process of preparing to start a business while working as a full-time firefighter.

So, please enjoy the journey of a small-town firefighter starting a business from here on out.

 

I hope this "Business Preparation Series" blog will be even slightly helpful to anyone in a similar situation someday.

 

By the way, I started writing this blog in October, so it's not completely in real time. Please think of it as "Day X of the process!"

 

I plan to officially start my business in April 2024!

October 2023

Alright! I'm doing this! I'm building this website while staring down YouTube.

I talked to my wife about resigning and have actually started working on it.

I plan to resign next October.

#The time when my first child will be back from kindergarten

 

As for the work itself, it's seriously so difficult that my head feels like it's going to split open.

 

Especially the domain connection part, which I just can't seem to get right.

I called the domain company this afternoon to ask about it,

but they told me,

"Hmm! That's something you have to ask the website provider about."

So I asked about it on the website provider's support chat while crying, but after all that back and forth, I still haven't been able to connect the domain!

#What on earth should I do? Crying.

 

I disconnected it once, so maybe it'll be another 48 hours before I can try again...

#So worried

 

Anyway, if the domain isn't connected,

this site will never be released to the world, so I have to keep at it.

Changing the subject, I guess I'll be resigning from the fire department in about a year and will probably be running around in a fluster.

 

Also, changing the subject again,

Isn't it a bit early to start building a website a year in advance?

You're probably thinking that, right?

 

But the situation I'm in is that

I have really limited time between work and childcare

and

everything is new to me, so I figured it would take me about 5,000 times longer than a regular engineer!

 

Just thinking about it roughly,

I have to do everything by myself: starting a company, creating a product, managing social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter), building a website, handling shipping, accounting, labor relations, and door-to-door sales. I also have to research how to go about it all, so I figured I had to get started this far in advance.

Also, one reason is that I felt like I couldn't just sit around anymore, and I needed to make up my mind.

#My heart is so restless it can't be contained, and I'm not going to let it stop me, so I'm going to do it.
